Hi,

Sorry for the noob questions! Smiler

I'm in a band, and we play a few small clubs/bars. To liven up our practices we purchased several LED lighting effects: REVO II, Pearl LED, LED DMX Moonflower. All three of these are DMX supported. We plan on getting a couple more of these, and one or 2 spots, and adding all of this to our live shows.

However we are complete newbies when it comes to this. If anyone can help with the following questions, it would be greatly appreciated!

- Since these LEDs are all RGB + White, is it possible to change the hues using a controller? Such as being able to make purple or orange colors?

- What would be the basic setup for doing this? Would we need anything else besides a controller for doing this? We're trying to figure out the differences/advantages of the Elation Stage Setter 8, and the Elation DMX Programmer. Keep in mind the scope of all of this. We just want certain songs/parts of songs to have different hues/tempos from the lighting. Nothing tooooo fancy.

My understanding is that once the show information is recorded it can be uploaded into the DMX Duo controller (which can be rackmounted into my guitar rack, thus eliminating us carrying the programmer along to shows.) Is this correct?

I greatly appreciate any advice all you experts can give!

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response! I was looking through the manual for the Revo II, and I also downloaded the manual for the Operator 192 & the Stage Setter. How do you change the hues of the lights? Obviously I'm a complete newbie, because there are so many things I don't get!

What are the main differences between the Stage Setter, DMX Programmer, & the Operator 192? They are all pretty close in price.
each color has a fader on the controller you buy which allows for 0-100% dimming. usually it goes channel 1 is red ch. 2 is green, ch.3 is blue. understand now? the differences are the stage setter 8 you really dont need unless you want to buy pars and only pars. the dmx programmer is a nice tabletop controller which has a little bit more functionality than the dmx operator 192. BUT however i have owned a DMX op. 192 and i recommmend it is a first controller to ANYBODY getting their first lights. so for you i recommend either the programmer which is a litle bit more hard to me in terms of learning it or the DMX operator 192, which i love and is a nice controller. hope this helps. sincerely,
Thanks for the advice... I trust your knowledge, so I'm going to pick up the Operator 192 as soon as I can!

Ok, another question. The Revo II and the other lights have between 50-150 LEDs each. How does changing the hue work with these? Do all the LEDs change, or can they be selected somehow?
re read the second sentence in my previous post. it is r,g,b color mixing. kinda like painting. lol. each color or section of leds such as red can be brought to a certian intensity and if u r adding colors like red and blue u will get purple and if u make a certain color brighter than the other u can make for example using different intensity's of red and blue u can make anywhere from a light purple all the way to a nice bright magenta. BUT on the revos they are sectioned off. so red wil have a beam spread some where on the floor or whereever u have it facing and then greens leds will be elsewhere. take another look at the product videos and u will see what i mean. sincerely,
