Hello,
I am currently in the process of getting rid of all of my Par 64 Lights that I use for uplighting for decor. They are a mix of 300 watt and 500 watt bulbs. I am trying to replace all of them with LED lights. Does anyone know what would be the equivalent to a 300 watt and/or 500 watt Par Can in an LED light. I like the Punch Pro and the P64 LED lights but will they do the job and will they be equivalent to my 300 or 500 watt Par cans. And if not these lights which ones? Any help would be really great. I have tried the formulas to figure out the intensity and LED size but I am coming up empty.

The DLED36 is way out of my price point that I am trying to stick to. I have over 40 Par cans I use for uplighting and wall washing and I want to replace all of them with LED's. Typically the throw is about 10 Feet. Anything else you could suggest thats at a lower price point.
Thanks,
RJ
Keep in mind too, when pricing an LED upgrade, you are looking at saving some money on replacing the lamps over time, as LED's have excellent life ratings. This is more of an investment-based savings though.

On the other hand too, remember that LED fixtures are usually going to be DMX fixtures, so you'll need to still consider the addition of DMX cabling as well.
As Jingles and LightTech said, there is a price for what you want to do.

I am replacing 32 Par38's with gels in favor of 8 64B LED Pro's. Wait, I HAVE replaced.

Now, considering an LED fixture like what I just mentioned, you have to take into consideration a lot of extras:

Traditional Par64's are not intelligent. This means add a dimmer pack. Cost. Boom, right there. Adds up. Between gels, and even if you're doing color mixing and focusing, you're going to use up multiple lghts for the same application.

What do you get with the 64 LED Pros?
1: Color mixing/blending. No gels.
2: BRIGHT. Seems pretty darn close to me as a 500-watt traditional 64. I aimed one out a window onto this sound wall that serves as my back fence, from INSIDE the house and through a double paned window. Nice!!
3: Instead of lugging dimmers, it's all in the same unit.

OK, let's say a traditional Par64 costs $40. 3 of those for color mixing assuming RGB, is $120. But then you need a dimmer. Stucking with ADJ, that's a DP-DMX20L at around $180. Whoah, $300 right there.

With an MSRP of $400/unit for a 64 LED Pro, OK, going traditional, maybe you save money. Double up on cans to a dimmer and you save more. But I know some places that offer fantastic pricing.

But, now the LED's have a LOT less current draw. 8 64B LED Pros draw 240-watts, less than 2 Par38's. Uhmmmmm, that makes me happy! I have to deal with crummy club power and any juice I can save, the better. In my case, fewer fixtures, more light, less current draw. For you, it's "less current draw, less overall to lug"

Chances are, using the LED Pros, you'll need less lights since you can get any color you want out of any single fixture.

No dimmer packs to haul. Built in DMX. Less current draw. Need fewer fixtures. Don't get warm(I ran mine full white for 4 hours not even warm). No gels. No bulbs to replace. What's not to like?

Want a shorter throw? Go the 56 versions. A Par36 is a pinspot period. not suitable. My throws are typically short as well, but I'll figure out how to make it all work. What I like is I can always turn the lights DOWN!

I have both the 64B LED PRO's and Punch PRO's. I would recommend the Punch PRO's for your application. They have better throw and overall wash compared to the 64B's. The 64B's have a very focused beam compared to the Punches. I think the Punches would wash a wall better all around. Both are very bright and might work for you though. Shop around online for the best prices. I have found both for far less than MSRP and the Punches cheaper than the 64B's to boot. Anyway, I hope that helps.

SIMILAR QUESTION:

Can anyone tell me how the brightness for the LED LS70 Par 38 cans will compare to the 150W output of regular incandescent lights?

If LED output isn't measured the same way, then how can you compare to "standard" lights?

Thx

LED output of a fixture is often compared as "wattage draw" as compared to a traditional incandescent fixture, not lumens. I need to see the lumens because I can work with that better. Wattage is a numbers game for me for current draw, so it's also vital, but I want that lumens to compare.

OK, here's it is:
The 64B LED Pro compared nicely to a 300-watt Par64 incadescent. I shot both out a from INSIDE my house through a double pane window(relatively clean, too high for pug nose marks) and onto my back fence, which happens to be a "sound wall". No gel, all white.

LED unit was slightly dimmer. My take: I'm very pleased. It just had to be close. In my case, lumens were irrelevant, my eyes made the observation.

Lumens I think pertains to light intensity output. I'm reaching here, I'm too lazy to look up the term. I don't think it matters what type of fixture, just output of said fixture.

BUt I also agree with LightTech. The Pucnh Pros are more of a general wash, and that's better for what you want unless you're shooting your 64's from far off, which isn't ideal.

Look at your regular Par38's: note where the bulb is: near the edge. No real "can" effect, these are strictly wash fixtures putting out a WIDE beam of light. I think the LS70 system might be a bit more focused. But I bet the outout is really similar.

Sorry for out of order. I'm super wiped out.

One of my key concerns was "how does the 64 LED Pros compare to output and functionality of traditionals", and my concern is well addressed: It's a like for like replacement, BUT you don't need as many LED fixtures because they do the color changing for you. Chances are you'll come out ahead. Plus, no "fear of commitment". Tired of white, hey, let's go light blue and seee how it goes. Or maybe super long washes..... Changes every 10 minutes with a 10-second transition. Classy!
