My Laser Widow was purchased new and worked great for a few months, and was rarely used and gently treated. After a certain point it started manifesting a strange pattern of behavior that I have no solution for and do not understand.

When it is first powered on, the laser is very bright and visible, just as the first day it was purchased. Within 10 to 20 minutes it quickly fades in intensity until it is almost completely invisible. I have tried everything from cleaning to different power supplies, to even seeing how it performed with batteries. After being powered off for a good while, it will return to it's original intensity.. But again it only lasts for 10 to 20 minutes before fading out.

It's a shame to have spent good money on something that became useless for shows after such little use.

Any advice or recommendations on this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

This started happening within 90 days for sure, but it's been a few years since I purchased it. If the laser diode has 'gone out', I'm curious as to how it can be so bright at first. Wouldn't a dead diode not come at all, as opposed to starting out strong and fading out after several minutes?
I see the cost of a replacement diode in the parts store is basically the same as an entirely new unit.

Thanks for the reply.
