Hey all,

After adding more Mightys to my rig, I noticed that a fixture or two doesn't quite have the same illumination as the others. When the fixtures are 'open bright white', one or two of them are sort of faded and not as luminous, leading to:

1. The bright whites do no match the rest of the fixtures
2. The throw of the fixture is greatly reduced including lack of sharpness in the beam regardless of focusing.

Of course this is a lamp issue, and I wanted to know if this sounds like older lamps on their way out or just a different brand/type of lamp installed. From all that I can tell, the lamps are the same - but I don't want to go yanking them out and shortening their life if I don't have to. Everything has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected and in top working order. I just wanted an opinion on the lamps before I go digging into them again.

Thanks,
-Tech

Sounds like ur lamps life is slowly fading away..in more ways than one Smiler usually when they start going dim theyll give out relatively soon...i would yank em now as long as they are somewhat usebale still...u could always use the less bright ones for some fx that dont require such large throws...or replace the bulbs to get the uniformity back
I just got two new Color 150 DMX color changers and the beams were different from my other 6 that I already own. The one lamp in one of my new ones blew in about an hour. The 6 I already owned have almost all been replaced with Philips lamps as they almost all blew very shortly after purchasing them new. No problem with the Philips lamps -- I think ADJ uses cheap lamps on some products from the factory. . . the beam looks different too. There was almost a "hole" effect coming right out of the lens where there was no light then formed to a focal point
Hi there. I had the same issue with my mighty scans when I bought new lamps.

Not all ELC lamps are the same.

The output of a standard ELC (300 hours) is different from an ELC/5 (500 hours). The ELC 5 seems 25% darker than the standard ELC lamp.

Since then I've bought the standard ELC 300 hour lamp.

Hope this helps
