Hello, I recently purchased the first major piece to my lighting rig and I had some questions about it. The Galaxian 3D is a pretty glorious laser and I'm quite satisfied from the 40 minutes I played with it in combination with my little fogger. I have a local band and we would like to implement a quick/easy light show for our show-comers. We planned on using the audio detection functionality rather than DMX control for now to save setup time, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do what I want without at least SOME mild control. Strike me if I'm wrong.

Basically, I was hoping with the Galaxial 3D I'd have the ability to: A. Turn up/down the Db sensitivity of the audio detection B. Have the laser fall to standby when no sound is detected.

I've scoured the manual and it looks like those are not native functions of the device. I was trying to think of a relatively inexpensive solution. Maybe a kill-switch foot pedal that sends a standby-yes/standby-no command to the laser? Does something like that exist? If so I could give it to our drummer and put him in charge of killing the laser at the end of a song when we want that effect.

I will also soon be getting a ADJ Dekker and I was wondering if there was similar functionality on that as well. I think I'd place the Dekker on the floor in front of the drum kit and I don't think I would mind having on most of the time, unless the audio sensitivity is too high. I just don't want the laser to get over-done or annoying for the crowd through the course of a longer set by being on the whole show with no relent.

Also, as I said, I've only played with it for about 45 min, but it seems like it only has about 5 programs it cycles through... For $350 I figured it'd have at least 10 or so, I'm hoping that doesn't get boring, as it's our only lighting piece at the moment. I realize to use its full potential I need a controller, but we really don't want that to eat into our set-up/break-down time.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

There is no way to adjust the sound sensitivity from a dmx controller. That function is only taken care of from the LED menu display.
and no if no sound is detected the laser will just stop moving. Maybe after awhile it will turn off. Look into a UC3 controller. It will let you scroll through the internal programs and also black out the laser.
UC3 Controller.
There is also these options too minus the ADJ LED RC.
UC3 Foot Controller,UC3 Wireless,and Wi Tech 8 Wireless.
Check em out. The UC3 Foot controller sounds to be right up your alley.
Thanks for the reply! Yeah the UC3 foot controller looks just right. Does it work on its own or do I need to get a brain to connect it to? How many fixtures can it control? If I master/slave two Galaxian 3Ds, I assume it will control both, but would I be able to connect a Dekker too? That might be getting to complex anyway. I think we only really need control for the lasers. Do you know where I can find a manual for it?

Thanks again!
The UC3 foot control is exactly what I was looking for! This allows me to put the Galaxian 3D unit in standby, turn audio detection on/off, and strobe the unit red, green, and red/green. Thanks for the suggestion, it's perfect!

And just for the record, the Dekker is a really cool light! I just wish it didn't stay on so long after the music stops.
