I'm having issues and I'm ready to pull my hair out. We have been using MyDMX over the last 6 months and have been trying to use a permanent computer to run the lights. We originally were using a IBM Thinkpad and it worked flawlessly. We attempted to use a Dell Dimension desktop with a fresh install of XP and only MyDMX running on the computer. We had issues with flashing of the LED Chauvet Colorstrips and LED Pars on the system (the only lights on the MyDMX). We tried different drivers, reloading MyDMX and the issues persisted.

We attempted to use another newer Dell PC, and Toshiba Satellite Laptop and had the same issues. With the IBM thinkpad again and a newer Toshiba laptop, we have no issues. We are now trying a Dell Latitude laptop that is supposed to the new dedicated computer and the problems continue. I have noticed with the Dell Latitude, the issue only occurs with the power adapter plugged in. On battery power there is no issues. I can't run the laptop on battery the entire time before services are over.

We have DMX cable throughout the system- no xlr's. I'm just clueless why it works on some computers and not others. Please help.

Your issues can be cleared up one way. The color strips have been documented on several lighitng forums even for PRO LD's that use high end consoles. To put it shortly, the DMX refresh rate setting for the chauvet color strips is not a DMX standard for about 99% of the rest of the dmx fixtures out there. So, they cause random flickering. No way around it except to use a different fixture. Could also be passing it down the line to the rest of your lights too. If you don't believe me Google it. search for "Chauvet colorstip flickering issue"
It had this same problem on the Elation compu Live software aswell.
Welcome to the forums.
Sincerely,
