Hello All,

You may have seen a few of my posts already. I'm Elliot Marx and have directed the electronic hardware design on the VMS4.

If you have questions about the operation of the VMS4, please feel free to hit me up and I'll do my best to help you address these issues. I'm seeing many of the issues that come up are due to the fact that the VMS4 is a MIDI controller with a built-in mixer. Take your time to learn the product because it's probably a bit different from anything you've used before.

I also have one brief comment. I see lots of quips about the product being Made in China and put together haphazardly. I personally spent months with engineers and production staff in China getting this product working. I know too well about the challenges of making any product in China, but for sure we've put a tremendous effort into making the product sound and feel right. On top of that, American DJ has a very strong QC and support staff ready to resolve issues that come up both from production and from customers.

If you have service issues particular to your product please contact ADJ support directly. These guys are on the forums every day reading your feedback.

I dont think the production being in China is so bad. A lot of (electronic) equipment is made there. China is capable of making all qualities of material. Where it went wrong with VMS4 is really a mystery. What people are wondering is how the product left the test phase with all these issues still bugging it...? Maybe its just a bad batch of controllers?
My main isue is the jogwheel needing to have the rubber band round it - i would rather just deactivate the VINYL mode and only use it when it suits me, otherwise everytime i accidently touch the platter the song will be interupted. For me pressing the VINYL button on the controller does nothing in Traktor pro. Therefore i need to know asap if the jogwheel can be used in pitchbend mode alone and then back to vinyl when it suits me.. Need to know really soon!!!
Thanks for being here to help us out Emarx!

I also find the rubber add-on for the jogwheel to look very unprofessional.
It's better to have this redesigned and have the rubber integrated in the rim.
Shouldn't be a big problem to have this manufactured.

Or at least have the rubber band made out of black rubber?
@ Daniel
for the jogwheel: u can probably assign a midi function to swith to scratch mode when needed, like a shift button (?)
So that its used for searching/scrubbing and pitchbend normally and after a midi press it would go to scratch. That way you could also take off the rubber on it. Should do the trick. Plus this would also solve the issue of touching the platter by mistake and having the song paused, which can be a real disaster for any dj.
@ Souf,

personally I don't like switching between modes, and like the double function on the platter.
I previously had a DJ-Tech I-Mix reload which had this double function, and this jogwheel had a plastic rim and touch sensitive upper surface.
Great feeling controller.
AA should have this done also, but have it visually better integrated in the jogwheel without having to add the extra non-professional looking rubber ring.

please make new firmware without mapping mistakes,,the jogs is ok for me, but i cant work with 4 decks in traktor pro without problems,,example when i push the cue button 4,,just start loop in deck 2 ,,there is not problem with mapping i see,,plase help!!!

im upgrade the firmware to 3.8 = and i have some problem and much more of this kind
Im not a scratch DJ so the jog wheels are not to much of an issue for me I have removed the rubber bands and I am just using the jog wheels to cue up at start of a track I was concerned that I might knock off them and pause a track but after two live gigs I have not done this as yet..
Now ADJ Team Please respond here is my problems My main Problem is The mic sound Its seems loud enough and the EQ seems to work but the sound is very distorted and im not sure I can use it as it is ever !
Also there does not seem to be much volume out of the outputs and I have had to run the master on fully to get some punch out of it and while trying to juggle with keeping the gains to +4 as not to end up with distortion and I have an ipod running on channel 4 for backup and it sounded no better and the the known cue channel button problem .I have found the unit really great to use when I ran it through an external mixer from the RCA to RCA on a channel on the external mixer as I had more volume and little or no distortion but i did try the mic on this setup and found the external mixers mic channel way better (formula sound mixer ).
Today I have made a lead XLR to RCA to try and see if that give me more output On my home system this doen't seem to have made a difference ,
As the Bar gig I do just Provide me with a RCA Phono lead to plug in not ideal I know but not my idea My Rmx sounded ok though the same system,
I dont know much if anything about sound cards and have the unit set to 4out should I be on 8out ( is this one of my problems )
If these problems can't be fixed with a firmware update I guess that they might not as they might be hardware problems will ADJ replace my unit if they ever sort out the problems as I am in Ireland and the unit I have was bought in the Uk cost to return n stuff and really want a proper working version of the VMS4 .
I Really want to keep the VMS4 but would love to have these problems resolved many thanks ... awating a reply .

are you using a wireless mic or a corded mic?

i noticed when using a wireless, you nned to back off, and move it away from you quite a bit to not get distrortion
