The computer we have running the lights is also doing a few more things, so that may be part of the problem, but it's not underpowered or anything, so I'm wondering if others have seen this issue, or if there is a well known fix the problem.

The lights will just shut down for a few seconds, and then they will come back on. No changes are being made, or transitions in the show. It should be at a steady state.

But since the computer running the lights is also doing a few more things, I'm wondering if there is something happening because of that.

If you open, and then close Internet Explorer, it seems that 6 times out of 10 the lights will go out then come back.

Also if other things are going on, it can cause the problem too.

What are we doing wrong ? How can we fix it?

(PS - ALL lights shut down - we currently have only 15 circuits being controlled my DMX.

I gotta say this in a way that won't get me in trouble or insulting to you, plus keeps MyDMX in a good light.

First, I like MyDMX. I still use it. Not as often as before, but when I do concerts, the way I set it up it works fantastic.

Let's get into this. What all are you running besides MyDMX? When it goes out, is it coming back when you run a another scene or does it come back on its own?

Why are you running Internet Explorer? Is there a reason to be surfing the web while you're doing your lighting? Now, I haven't run into that problem because I haven't done that, but I have had MyDMX freak out on me while trying to run Windows Media Player. Very similar, as it was fine, then I switched to Windows Media Player and the lights went out. I had to select the scene again, but one time I had to restart myDMX.

MyDMX really likes to be the only thing running. It needs to be and remain the foreground application at all times. I'm not sure why this is true, but that's what really keeps it happy.

So, share more details. I will agree with you that you're probably not bogging down the computer. I just think that how you're behaving(which normally wouldn't be unusual), MyDMX just doesn't like it.

Ideally, come show time, you should be doing everything you can to minimize issues whenever possible, and often that means "one machine, one task" kind of mentality.
