I can spell DMX but that's about it... I need help

I have an American DJ DMX Operator that I have used for years with the Cyberpack, no problem. I have a Chavuet 400g Follow Sport that I have used manually. I have decided to learn more about DMX and newer lighting so I bought 10 25' DMX cables and a DMX terminator. I plug the cable to the out of the Operator into the Follow spot which is addressed at 1. I go to my operator and hit the Scanner(fixture) button number 1 and it will not stay lit. When I use the dimmer pack which is addressed at 1, I hit the Scanner button number 1 and it will stay on and I can create my scenes.

I have found that using two Cyber packs with everything addressed at 1 will cause the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated. I know binary well so I feel that is not the problem.
