I've just bought My DMX and hooked it up to two ADJ LED Vision units. Linked one unit to the USB box via XLR and both units together via an XLR. I can see both units displaying different colours etc in the 3D Visualiser and the separate DMX ID numbers of the units. But both lights are only showing one colour? What I'm I doing wrong? Thanks

Are the lights in master/slave mode? Are they addressed properly? If using DIP switches to program addresses, have the fixtures been powered off then on after changing the addresses?

Also, use DMX cable, not XLR. Yes, it looks the same. Yes, it's wired the same. NO, it's NOT the same.
Yes they are in the master/slave mode connected via a 3 pin DMX cable. My DMX appears to be picking up different addresses for each lamp as you'd expect. They don't appear to have any DIP switches. I'm now using DMX cables. Both lamps are set to the mode for 7 channel DMX. But I'm still not getting any separate control over the second unit. It is simply copying the first unit.
I've got the My DMX into one unit and the other daisy chained via a 3 pin DMX cable. Both units are set to the '2001' 7 channel DMX mode. Both units have separate addresses in My DMX. But I can't see how you can switch out of the master/slave operation? Do I need a separate box with multiple DMX outputs, asssuming such a device exists, for individual lamps and connect this to My DMX USB box? Does daisy chaining automatically trigger a master/slave operation with the LED Vision units? Are these units suitable for My DMX? I'd like to buy more units like the Revo 2, if I can get this work.
No you dont need to buy mulitple dmx boxes. no im talking about turning master/slave mode OFF on the units and going into dmx address mode. Master/slave mode and dmx are two entirely different operating modes. And no daisy chaining does not automatically trigger master/slave. it is something you need to set up on the fixtures themselves. Make sure you are doing this for the visions.
"DMX Mode:
There are two DMX Modes to choose from. One mode is a 7 Channel Mode, and the other is a 12 Channel Mode. Operating through a DMX controller give the user the freedom to create their own programs tailored
to their own individual needs.
1. This function will allow you to control each individual fixture’s
traits with a standard DMX 512 controller such as the Elation® DMX Controller.
2. The LED Vision uses either a seven DMX channel mode or 12 DMX channel mode to operate.
3. To run your fixture in DMX mode, plug in the fixture via the XLR connections to any standard DMX controller.
4. To run the 12 Channel Mode, press the left (MODE) button until “1001” is displayed. This is the DMX addressing for the 12 Chan- nel Mode.
5. To run the 7 Channel Mode, press the MODE button until “2001” is displayed. This is the DMX addressing for the 7 Channel Mode."
ok? Let me know.
I'm thinking that there could be something wrong with the DMX linking the two units. I've got the manual, so I've followed the instructions to set both units to '2001' the 7 channel DMX and I assume that this overides the master/slave operation as there is no OFF button for this. The mode button on the unit has; two DMX modes '1001' & '2001', the 3-So & S-S1, the sound activitated modes, 4.XX the various auto modes, 5.XX the auto with speed adjustment and the macros 6.XX. Interesting to note that when I've got the master unit in an auto mode 4.36 the slave unit only copies it when set to '1001' one of the DMX modes. I'll buy another cable tomorrow and see if that is the problem, thanks for your help so far
Before you go out buyiung a cable(and I dount you're using DMX cabling, but here's to hoping..), try reversing the order of the fixtures. Or one at a time.

First see if one cable and one fixture responds. Then, swap out the fixtures. Same results? OK, you've got not only the right mode set, but your cable is good.

I also don't trust that you've got your lights fully set properly.

You're right in that you need to hit the MODE button until it reads 2001 for 7-channel DMX mode. I like the 7 channel option over the 12 channel since it's more straight-forward.

Hvae you power cycled after changing the mode? It shouldn't matter, but it also can't hurt either.

Testing cables: Get a cable tester or a meter with an ohm test and preferably a tone(makes life easier). Ensure your cables are wired 1-1, 2-2, 3-3(straight through cable) and as you're aware, we're all advocating the use of DMX cabling over XLR microphone cabling even though they look and are wired identical. For test purposes, I doubt you're using long runs so it doesn't really make a difference right now. But, do ensure you're using DMX cables whenever and as much as possible.
thanks, for all the help, I got it sorted in the end with some advice for an ADJ rep, it turned out to be the case that I hadn't got the second lighting unit addressed properly, the first one was '2001' as per the instruction leaflet for the 7 channel mode, but the second one needed to be '2008'
