I'm trying to use the DMX Programmer's joystick to control a DJ Scan 250. I keep doing what the manual says but it's not registering. Anybody have any ideas? Is the DJ Scan able to do it?
I've never actually used the dmx programmer board, however I own a dmx operator pro i believe the two boards are fairly similar. In order to use the joystick you need to specify what channel's and to what fixtures you want the joystick to run. I believe with the dj scans channel 1 is pan and channel 2 is tilt. So lets say fixtures 1-4 are dj scans. If you select all 4 fixtures, and then specify channel 1 is pan and channel 2 is tilt and save the settings the joystick should control those 2 channels whenever you select those fictures whether it be for programming or on the fly. I hope this helps somewhat I know it's very general and I apologize but if theres anything else I can try and clarify please ask. -Mike
Thanks for your help and reply. For some odd reason, the channel for pan was 5 and tilt was 6. Maybe it could just be my board since I bought it used. I don't know, but it works. The DMX polarity switch isn't even on there, must have broke off.
the board might have dmx patching (I dont know for sure if it does or doesnt) If it does and its used like you said. The previous owner could have patched certain fixtures reassigning channels. In which case if it does have dmx patching you can always change it the settings that you would like. I have four DJ Scans ( the older ones) and channel 1 is pan and channel 2 is tilt. But i'm glad you figured it out. -Mike
thinking about this some more, you said channel 5 and 6 were pan and tilt, however the dj scan only uses four channels of dmx so that would lead me to believe that there has to be dmx patching in order to have channel 5 and 6 active. If this were the case then 2 channels through 1-4 would not be serving any function on your board.
