i have just been given 2 future light dj scan 200's

i have the profile set up as it was in the existing library i have it set as first fixture and the dmx dip channel on the device set to 001 which should in theory be correct because the first fixture would only use the first dip switch on.

if i have this wrong please let me know i would like to test this light it seems to work well sound to light would defiantly like to see what it can do programed

1: This obsession with profiles and MyDMX working needs to stop. Profiles only make it easier for us humans to relate to the fixtures.

2: If you move a fader 1 in MyDMX and based on how your fixture is addressed, then it should respond to it. If not, maybe download a manual because maybe you're overlooking a DIP switch setting(usually 10), or maybe like with my Chauvet Intimidator Color 1.0's, they are backwards.(what is off is on compared to normal)

3: Connection order:

1: Turn on your fixtures.
2: Connect DMX cable from fixture(s) and then LASTLY to the MyDMX dongle.
3: Boot your computer. DO NOT have the MyDMX hardware plugged in(you can start your computer earlier, but the key thing is don't have your hardware plugged in).
4: Once booted, and DMX cabling is wired up to the hardware, connect your MyDMX hardware to your PC and wait for the tones. Now run MyDMX. Enjoy.

Don't screw with your cabling when all running unless you have an OptoBranch/4 or MultiBranch/4 units.
A lot of people are obsessed with the profiles to the point that it's beyond distraction.

1 through 511? That doesn't sound right. Should be 512.

Ensure you are in fact in DMX mode. Check your DMX cable as well to ensure it's not defective. Get a cable tester or use a volt meter with tone and check 1 to 1(shield), 2 to 2, 3 to 3. IF you're pressed for testing, use a microphone cable(XLR)>

Yes, I know I say use only DMX cable. And yes almost all of know that mic cable and DMX cable are indentical in appearance.

Also, build a basic DMX tester/terminator AND a DMX terminator. It helps.

Try your fixtures one at a time and see if one works and one doesn't. Or maybe you've inherited these because they are broken? I hope not, that would suck if it was true.
sorry its 000, 001 - 511 so there is 512 channels

ive tried multiple cables that work with other units no luck also use a terminator plug cause i run more that 4 units in my light show at any one time so i always pop a terminator to avoid glitches i know this is a high number compared to some of you but i like to be safe

im guessing the unit is faulty i wasnt promised they would work was nice to be given some good lighting free i will just use them sound to light

cheers for the help guys
Wow, that's really helpful!! Seriously, I think you've cracked it for me.

OK, here's the concept:
DMX is using values 1 through 512. It does NOT use value 0 for addressing. But this idiot company HAS chosen to use 0 as the first value.

So, just subtract 1 from all values and you have your channel on your fixture. Try that.

Set your DMX address to ZERO on the fixture, whch I think would come to DMX address 1. Fire up MyDMX, find the channel that turns on the light or opens the shutter(so you can see what you're doing easier) and then move the other channels. As I said, a profile isn't necessary, you're more concerned about functionality right now.

Let me know if that helps any. And again, thanks for that information, it really was useful.

Also, I can't find a manual for this in quick looking around.

(I can't dig deeper, my kids are having one of their "what can I do to ensure the others are pissed off" days. Or: normal day around here. As per typical, the day has ground to a halt and won't resume until around 10PM and I'll be up until 4AM and start it all over again at 7AM)
thank you for the replies really appreciated sorry its taken me a while to reply been on my holidays i tried for well over 2 hours to find details on this light and i found nothing which was a huge pain used it sound to light and worked well but the lights just aint for me there very bulky compared to my all my other lights so im going to get some led scanners that fit better into my existing set up
