Haze machine question

I have a fog machine but people always complain about the smell. I am thinking that maybe a hazer would be the way to go but I hate to spend the money on it if people are still going to complain. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

they do work only you can't see the haze in regular light. it has to be directional
