I'm about to buy an American DJ Haze Generator, but I have a few questions first:

How loud is it really? I've heard it's pretty loud. Does anyone know if it's louder than a DF-50?

How long does 1 gallon of Haze G liquid last?
and is that the only liquid you can use with this unit?

How do you like the Haze Generator for the price??

thanks!

I can't comment on the sound levels as I haven't heard one.

I am avoiding the AmericanDJ product of this type because I am looking for a water-based solution, and the ADJ product uses a mineral oil based solution, which over time will leave a nasty build-up of residue which can and will damage other equipment even if well maintained and kept clean.

How long would a gallon of fluid last? I'd say, based on my fog machine experience, quite a bit of time. Let's put it this way, whatever you spent on your fluid you'd definately have gotten it back over your hires and usage of the gear, or packaged into your service offerings.

For ADJ's listed price, it doesn't seem a good deal to me. Just doesn't make sense for ME to purchase it at that price either.

A big advantage to keep in mind is that hazers appear to use less power than foggers. No doubt it's that heaterless operation. Good to know if power isn't exactly plentiful or healthy. In my experience, power isn't exactly up to the standards it is supposed to be, with voltage dropping below usable levels before utliziting 75% of circuit capacity.
Don't knock ADJ customer service. Want to ask a question? They have a toll-free number, I believe. They are good in my opion, way better than average.

Here's my fog machine experience: A filled FogStorm700 lasted me 4 4-hour shows, despite being used quite a bit. Not constantly and not super-heavy fog, but was used considerably. I say this: I used the fog myself for one show, then let a brother-in-law use it for 3 school functions(that's all he borrowed). There was still some left, but not much. Also, everyone I've talked to says the same thing with their fog machines except those big commercial units since there is much more output.

I also hear the same thing with hazers. They seem to be fairly light on fluid consumption.

Still, I'd call ADJ support. Good folks there. I've never been disappointed, and I've talked about my experiences here. It's hard to find good custokmer service these days. While ADJ may not be the absolute best, of the companies I deal with, they are in the top 5 for sure.
