voltmaster, I actually found it was harder to use C clamps to mount my moving head fixtures perfectly level, I know what your saying but for some reason gravity wasn't on my side. The bases of the moving heads were not perfectly balanced, it took quite some effort to get them balanced correctly using C clamps.
Clamps alone is not safe, you must have safetys on any fixture above people's heads.

I swear by the good ole Altman C-Clamp for my pars but I still put a safety on each fixture just in case.

Safetys cost around $3 each; at that price point, everyone should have one for each fixture.
Amen to that. Saftey cables have saved fixtures in my lifetime. I worked on a show back in november and we were using blacklights in the show we hung em prob 20ft at least up in the air. The tie broke off and thank god those safety cables were there or it would have been bad, blacklight bubls fallin 20ft onto performers....not a good thing.
