My personal favorite, and my weapon of choice for events is the *** MP418sp. It is VERY flexible in it's configuration, compact yet powerful.

You can set it up in the following ways. . . .
1. Link your powered sub with a non powered sub.
2. Link your powered sub with a non powered mid/hi speaker
3. Send signal to your powered top.
4. Link powered and non powered sub, and send signal to your powered top.

Design wise, it has the right woofer, in the right box, with a very reliable amplifier in the back. So long as you are responsible with the gain control on the back of the sub and don't flat out destroy it, you will get the low end thump and decent throw. This is designed more for indoor use than outdoor, but will still add punch to any system.
