Yup, MyDMX will control any DMX-512 fixture.
This is NOT to be confused with the 3D Visualizer, which by itself is a great tool for lighting design, has limitations taht can prevent it from showing full realizations of fixtures. While a hinderance to light design, it's not usually a big deal. It's more critical that your profile is accurate for proper control of your fixtures.
I mainly use MyDMX for LED's, but I also have some color changers and movers and spots on there and it works wonderfully. I've also hung Par38's off dimmer packs, as well as high-tech FX off power packs. Other people are definately using MyDMX with scanners, lasers and more.
MyDMX is easy to use, as well as affordable. Considering it to be cost-wise on-part with an intro-type hardware controller, MyDMX becomes that much more an attractive purchase. It's ideal for beginners to DMX because of it's ease of use, but it requires a little more initial knowledge, just because you need to know a bit more. This is easily remedied by easily available documentation, including literature provided by Elation and American DJ.
Once you see how much more you can for the money with myDMX over a console, you'll wonder why people go with the console solution.
Why not go ahead and download MyDMX and go check out what it can do? It's free to download and use. You have to pay for the hardware in order to use it as a controller.
