What's the difference? Can you run them continiously or perodically on/off? How much fog/haze juice do they consume per hour (approx)? Does it smell? Any residue?

Hazer is just a haze to see the lights. Fogger is its own effect and helps you see the lights. Hazer you can run continuoously. Fogger you run in bursts.
Some Machines smell, but most water based fluids are fine. Some residue with overuse, but its water.

I personally prefer a fog machine...A nice blast of fog rolling over the stage, capturing the beams of light is something that cannot be duplicated with a hazer. However, the thing i like about hazers is their ability to constantly run. I have a ADJ Volcano with is a combo of the two machines. Its got "ETS" (electro thermal sensing) which regulates the temperature of the fog juice and enables it to operate constantly. Pretty nice unit but mine seems to have some kind of short in the controller as the lights will go off when you wiggle the connectors. I believe it is discontinued now, but it was a good buy.
