i am sure this has been discussed before...try doing a search on the forum
as far as i know a fog machine gives you a shorter burst of fog...meaning a lot of sog all at one time...with a hazer you get more continuous "haze"...haze also fills the room better with a thinner layer of fog, thus haze.

Fog is denser and usually only done it "bursts" where you have like that first whiff of smoke. Haze is much less dense and you can run it continuously without really "noticing" it. ts mroe of a subtl effect however still works great. Especilly if enough builds up its gets pretty crazy!

That's what I noticed too. The power draw on the hazer is much less than a fog machine. The price is way higher. I rarely use my Fog Storm 700's because of the power draw, takes up nearly have a 15-amp circuit. That bites!! Well, the machine rocks, just the power draw stinks. Well, and my first one smelled burning, so it stank too. ADJ replaced it under warranty, still haven't unboxed that one yet. I got a second for replacement purposes and emergency purposes, and that's the one I'm using these days.

Given a choice, I'd prefer a hazer, I don't like the puff of fog here and there, looks silly to me.

Not to mention that when you run a fogger some people cry about it. "It's choking me!" (Then they light up a cigarette!) Anyways, with a hazer you won't have the problem of anyone saying that the fog is making them sick (mostly bar/club freaks) the hazer is a lot less noticable like a previous post said. BTW, if you do/don't run DMX I would recomend getting the ADJ haze generator. It will run both ways (DMX/NOT)...

I do run DMX, via the DMX Operator. I'm sticking with ADJ for the time being, just the cost of the hazer I think is a tad out of line, too pricey. At some point early next year I'll bite the bullet and get this. However, I think I'll put it in "set and forget" mode.

I do know what you're talking about in regards to the "I can't breathe" issue as I sometimes experience that myself. Then again, working in a venue with smokers sucks. Maybe I should hire a band that chain smokes and they can be their own "smog machine". I'll have to put a health warning on the entrance to warn audience members that "the surgeon general has determined that watching this act can be hazardous to your health". Intersting marketing gimmick!
