So, I seem to have the same problem with the American Audio Radius 3000, as I had with the CDI300. I have scanned my files (mp3) with database builder, and I have also scanned them with virtual dj in order to get the bpm per song. However, when I use those same songs in my USB with my radius, the BPM ten to fluctuate. I know for a fact that I have a file at 128bpm, but my radius will read at 169, or 175. why does this happen?

And how do I use the "TAP" button, or what really, is it for?

1: Since you're into TLA's(three letter acronyms), let me toss a 4-letter one that will answer 99% of your questions: RTFM

Did you read? Now you know what the TAP button is. I figured it out without reading the manual or even knowing what the hardware was. Am I that good? No. I've just had enough experience with various gear that it becomes obviousl. Read your manual.

2: Your problem is due in part to your choice to use the inferior MP3 format. Please, no excuses, MP3 is inferior by default. Lots of stuff gets lost and it becomes very easy for other hardware, including that which can read BPM, to no longer see clean material to estimate BPM. Maybe you should offer your clients a better quality of playback source. At least pretend to care for a bit, OK?

Even so, even CLEAN tracks can contain sonic things that can fool BPM counters. Unless there becomes an agreed upon tagging system for flagging the BPM(and likewise, a standard way to read it, AND can be placed into the data without it affecting CD creation. Short of that, I don't see anything wrong with extracted/saved tracks(not MP3, please! I'm an audio professional, MP3 is banned in my facilities because they make me sick), having some sort of header tacked to the file beginning that can be read by anything would be an ideal way to go. Give the user some software to analyze and save that data(or specify the BPM) and resave. It's not far off. But then we have to have existing hardware be compatible with it or ignore it, and the new data must be otherwise invisible to devices that can't read it.
WOW, thank you for your lovely sarcasm. Coming from a professional as you your self put it, I am highly impressed with your answer.

Now, will it be possible to get some answers from a true professional, or at least someone who could further enhance through their experience the full functionality of the TAP button. I have read the manual, but would like to get some feedback who might be able to understand it a bit better than me.

As per your answer about the mp3, pathetic to say the least. I have had this problem with fluctuating BPM using wave files as well.

Thank you for your prompt attention to my post, and have a wonderful, free of attitude, positive day.

OK, SO LET ME START ALL OVER AGAIN.

I have read the manual, and although it explains it clearly, I really haven't played much with the tap button, mainly because I beat match by ear. My question should have been a bit more clear.

Since I haven't really used the TAP feature, I'm wondering how do you guys use it, what benefits does it give you guys, for those who use it more often than I do.

Chris, if you are bother by other people asking questions, you should not reply, and be bother by others who might want to know from other Dj's who are not so rude, and might want to share their own experiences and or knowledge.

Therefore, and once again, I thank you for your time in writing a response, but if you are not going to provide a positive answer, or tone down your idiotic attitude, please ignore my posting, and allow someone else share their experiences with my posting.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I hope you read this, as I have read the manual, or did you missed that part in my previous reply, and bring this to an end.
Thank you Jingles.

If I may add, I would like to better explain my question.

I have noticed that my Beat Per Minute counter fluctuates, or in some cases, it won't pick up the BPM at all.

I have tried wave files on a CD, and tracks from an USB flashdrive. I ahve also played the same song on both units, and one will read the accurate bpm, while the other will show a high increase. What could cause this to happen?
