Hey guys, I am a newbie to this site and led lighting. I am a dj back into the business after a few years off and raising a family. All of my past lighting experience was par cans, strobes, and mirrored balls Smiler. I have just started my new light setup with the Hyper gem for a center and 2 Chauvet color strip minis. (Sorry ADJ, but I liked these over your led bar, they color wash and provide a little show effect) My question is this; I would like to be able to turn the Hyper Gem off and on during a function: for example during dinner before the dance floor opens and for slow songs I would want it off. I would also like to freeze the color strips on a color or possibly slow fade between colors during these times as well. All other times the sound active mode is fine for my needs. What would be an entry level controller or switching device to accomplish this? I will also soon be adding another effect light, any suggestions to compliment the Hyper Gem, what would be ADJ's equivalent to Chauvet's Swarm? Thanks for any help and let me know if I am not clear in my needs, Joe

I have picked up a dmx controller and I am trying out different settings and creating scenes. What I would like to do if posssible is set all or some of the leds on the hypergem to one static color for a few scenes, is this possible? Also, before when I ran it in sound active I liked the setting that would run through all of the chase sequences. Is there a dmx value for that or do I need to set each sequence as a scene in a chase? Thanks for any help!
If you want to keep it simple (like me) without going full blown DMX there is a footswitch for under $40 that should control the Color Strips to suit your needs.

As for the ADJ Hyper Gem (and many other ADJ lights for that matter) I highly recommend the UC3 Controller.

You can pick one up NEW for around $30 and it will control most of the basic functions of the fixture. I got one free when I bought the ADJ ComScan System and I love it!

If fact, I liked it so much that I just upgraded to the UC3 Wireless System.

As implied, it has a wireless remote, and a 4 channel receiver that allows you to control up to four UC3 compatible lights from a crossed the room. Even better still, you can Master/Slave like fixtures while only using (1) channel on the receiver.

For example; I have (2) ADJ ComScans and (1) ADJ Jellyfish. My ComScans are linked Master/Slave in Channel One, the Jelly in Channel Two, so I am running (3) lights off of (2) channels and still have (2) open channels for (2) additional fixtures.

The UC3 Wireless System gives you a nice blend of simplicity, control, and wireless freedom for the money (about $129 new).

I am also considering picking up a HyperGem this week to go into channel 3 Big Grin How are you liking yours so far?
