Hi ....You are reccommended to me by management.
Please advise. I have 4 cans I am plugging into a DP-DMX4B. I just want the lights to come on full. The DMX address setting I see on the back is:
Swith #:
1. up 2. and 3 down. 4. up. 5. down. 6 and 7 up.
and 8, 9 and 10 down. The cans do not come on. I know the cans are ok.

Please help me figure out how to just get them to come on full...I know they don't flash, fade etc.
THANKS

hi leslie, welcome to the forums! are you using a controller or just trying to turn on a switch to have them full on because i dont think you can do that with this pack. you'll have to get a controller and set channels (or faders) 1-4 all the way up. you can fade these lights also by using the faders. tell me what you come up with!

Hi ......thanks. No not useing anything but a DP-DMX4B with the 4 cans plugged directly into the sides No other controllers. I am leaning towards your answer because I have tried many combinations of the 10 address buttons. I just want to turn them full on.

Does anyone know for sure if you must have a separate controller before the lights will even come on??? If so what good is this DP-DMX4B even to me anyway??

Thanks,
ps...headed out to a new PD job and I want to cream out a mobile unit before I go.
leslie. im sorry i didn't ask you if you were using a controller. the reason for the dimmer packs is to have control of the brightness of your pars. you will need a seperate console to dim the pars in and out. i know your looking for full on so why not just plug em in and leave em then? tske a look at this product if you will only need 4 channels. this might work for your system and is pretty cheap. let me know your thoughts on this. peace! jingles.
A quick lesson!

As you know PAR cans have a standard plug on them. They do not have any place for DMX. Because PAR cans are incandescent they can dim down by just limiting the power they have. This is what we use dimmer packs for. They "convert" the par cans into something with a DMX in and a DMX out(DMX is complicated so i wont go into much detail on that now) The Dimmer Pack receives a signal from a DMX controller and that tells it to have (for example) channel 2 (PAR Can #2) at 75% intensity. So it will only let channel 2 on the dimmer pack get 75% of its regular power. Some dimmer packs come with built in programs that let you chase, have the lights full on, dim up and down randomly, etc. Hope this helps!

The SC-8 is a great starter board and is perfect for what you want to do. If you decide to buy it and have any questions we will be happy to answer them! Good luck!
