Hi I'm new to all this so forgive my ignorance. I bought 2nd hand an dp-8a controller, 2 pocket scan, and a few other Intel. lights some cans & t4's. I have them running without the controller by sound but I want to start programing or controlling them. My Question: can i use the DP-8A to do this since it has 8 pin socket in /out and the lights have xlr 3 pin? what else do i need ? also the dp-8a has no power of it's own ??? any help would be truly appreciated

The DP-8A is for controlling dimmers only, and works for par cans only. The controller receives it's power from the dimmers down the 8 pin cable at the din conntector; hence no separate power cable for the controller.

That controller will not work for the intelligent fixtures since they operate on the DMX 512 protocol. You will need a DMX controller such as the DMX OPERATOR or the DMX PROGRAMMER to program the intelligent fixtures.
