I've been using MyDmx for about 2 years now and have experienced all of the issues and frustrations that I've read on the various forum postings. I've also had great success with my light shows as well as I have learned to deal and troubleshoot the quirky behavior of the software/hardware.

I just purchased my 3rd dongle last week, because my previous 2 just stopped working. The first one after a year of use...the second one after about 3 months of use. The power light comes one, but it won't do anything else. I try all of my tricks, but nothing works. I purchase a new dongle and all is fine...so it's definitely the dongle.

I noticed the tools.exe issue...but I've never been there...but I suspect that I'm doing something that is rendering the dongle unusable.

Btw...guitar center is trying to pull the whole "we don't take back software products" bit when I try to return it. Very annoying having to haggle with those morons that it's a hardware problem.

HELP!! Do I send this unusable dongle to American DJ to get repaired?

Hi James...thanks for the quick response. The first one became unresponsive back on Jan 15th of this year. The second one on 9/15 last Tuesday.

I'm running the latest version from the ADJ website on both of my PCs. I updated both and retested after it became unresponsive...and it didn't seem to fix issue. You can send me an updated driver and I can test it.

Do you have any commentary on my issue?
Hi James...no change with new driver. Where typically I would plug it into either of my PCs and it would recognize immediately, it simply does nothing. The red power light is on, but it never gets recognized by PC.

Both PCs are XP, Pentium 4, 2+ Gig ram, NVIDIA GeForce 6200

I don't think these dongles are coming back to life. I obviously expect the same thing to happen to this one eventually unless there is an obvious patch or fix that we're missing...in which case I'm gonna have to switch to a new program to avoid the recurring $300 expense.
You do have a one year warranty. As long as you didn't do anything to purposely damage these then you should get a replacement. Have you used the tools.exe application inside the my dmx folder? This only shows up in the April 2010 release. If you haven't then good. Dont use it. I have a sticky thread in this section about it.
Let me know.
Sincerely,
