Hi,
I am using the fc-400 foot controler for a fixture. The controller displays percent values, and I want to know the corrosponding DMX value. I think I found the formula to do this but I want to make sure that it's the correct formula, and I am somewhat mathematicaly challenged.

I have (dmx_value/255) X 100 (I hope I wrote this right) so that dmx 100 would equal
%39.21569
another example: dmx 110=%43.13725

I using a laser with this controller, and need to hit some specific dmx values, not percentages.
Am I on track here, or am I nuts???

thanks!!!

Yes. Your thoughts look correct. The percentage describes the amount that a particular fader/channel is applied (between 0-100 percent) as opposed to pure DMX channel values of 0-255.

It's just a different scale to describe the same thing. I'm not sure why they use percentages anyway. They're just more confusing than anything else. I can only see percentages applying to dimmers/shutters, and various effects like frost filtering.

It doesnt seem reasonable to describe the color blue as 51% versus a DMX value of 26.

Hope than makes sense.

Best,
