Ok, I have 4 new Revo III. Now, it looks like there is a 3 pin set-up on the back for a 3 pin connector. I take it that this is where the DMX goes.

Now, if I understand this whole thing It can be hooked up in a daisy chain....right? Ok, so, when I send one DMX in and out of each light, the last DMX cable goes right into the controller....right?

I was told that I had to buy a DMX-16SW and a DP-415. Now, I don't have a whole lot of money on this project and I'm try to do this on the cheap. Normally, i just throw the lights up and set them on auto. (the real on the cheap) But, I have a chauvet DMX controller that is currently running two DJ Spot 250's P.O.S's that can't light up nothing. But, these two DJ Spots are in a building the size of 250ft X 100ft and the owner is expexting for these two spots to work of rht whole place and....NOTHING ELSE!

So, I finally got him to buy 4 Revo III and that's it. Well, for know. today I have an electrician wiring up the place for these 4 revo's But, my goal is to get 4 new Nucleus to put in the overhead. But, I am thinking that I need to pre-wire these to get the area ready for these down the road.

Now, here's the main question....
I have to run different lengths of these cables...some as far as 200 ft. So, I am thinking about making these cable myself. Now, I have a degree in electronic (circa 1980) and I have made cables before. But, before I just go and jump in with two feet, I would like a little info. So, you can see that a degree in electronics doesn't mean shifting sand. tech has changed.

So, I see that I will be needing XLR connectors male and female and a lot of cable...around 300 ft. But, I found a cable that had two cables within the main jacket that also has a two shields...a foil and a co-ax sheild around the two cables

Now, I know that I have to hook-up pin per pin, color per color. Example: reds all go on #1 and Blacks on #2 and the co-ax shield on #3.

But, can I just get any old cable I want that is shielded? Or, does it have to be a 200/250 ohm cable?

The cable that I found has no OHM's marking on it. Is that going to make a big difference? This is where I am going to need help. after all of these years, I don't remember.

Thanks for your help

*DMX512 is a bus network no more than 1200 meters long, with not more than 32 devices on a single bus.
*DMX Network wiring consists of a shielded twisted pair, with a characteristic impedance of 120 Ohms.
* With the length you are running you definately want to use a terminator on the DMX out of your last fixture.
