I'm currently interested in buying the DMX Operator Pro. I currently own the DMX-50 by Chauv.

I don't expect a huge difference between the two. However, I just don't like the DMX-50 and I've heard tons of people say good things about the op. pro.

So I have one question in regards to this, is this board easily programmable?

And is it easy to set the fade times from one scene to the next with intelligent lights? For example, if I want the lights to slowly move from point A to point B between scene 1 and 2 but then on scene 3 and 4 it needs to be quick. Can I do this?

Lastly, if you're interested in selling a mint condition but used board, send me a message with what you're thinking of. I've already got a few people sending me some prices they'd sell theirs for, but I want to hear yours as well.

i would highly suggest the op pro board. I love it. However, if you think your going to be expanding in the future i would also urge you to take a good look at the show designer.... you have far more versatility with that board. However, the op pro is still a great choice just make sure you have enough channels with the op pro to run everything you desire.. as well as keep in mind room for expansion ....

One of the BIG differences between the DMX50 and the Op Pro is the fact that you can select groups of lights with the operator Pro. Can't do it with the DMX 50, which makes programming more difficult. Nice to be able to select more than one fixture and set the color, gobo, etc with one fell swoop.
actually, you can select multiple fixtures on the dmx 50. i do it all the time. You have 12 fixture buttons, you can select multiple fixtures at the same time, and as long as their gobos are all on the same channel, you can change them all at the same time, same applies to x.y, color, etc.

The main reason why I might not switch over to the op pro is that is only has 8 fixtures (and i know 8 conventional sliders for pars). But, if I switched over to the op pro, i'd be maxed out room to grow. With the dmx 50 i have a little room left.

Do you guys have any suggestions on boards that don't cost much more than the op pro but have around 12 fixtures or more?
Hmmm. I have both, and it seems that is why I bought the Operater Pro. Maybe I just have too much money?? Wink The Operator is plenty easy to program. I have 4 color changers, and I have them doubled up on two channels. If you double up, you can have quite a few fixtures running on it. I have 6 scans and 4 changers in all, and I'm very happy with the board. Seems the next step up is quite a step....
doubling up won't be much of an option for me. At times I am running as many as 10 intelligent lights and 20 par 56's. I think its safe to say that the op pro can't meet my needs. Though I'm shocked that a cheaper board by a company I have bad taste with (Chauv) supplies me with what I do need right now. But upgrading is required before I can do anything else.
