dmx operator adding cans,fx,strobe,revo 3

Not entirely sure. What might happen is that as yur chase progresses, it may set your other channels to ZERO values. Other than that possiblity, you should be OK. I've heard you can do this. I never got to this level with my DMX Operator. I was mainly setting color wash scenes, no chases. Worked fine. I could bring my "specials" on and off as needed.

seems to work ok, the revo 3 is actually in sound active chase mode with the dmx operator just controlling on/off function, the strobe works as it should, still waiting on the fx4 to add to this .......

Wait... newbie here too, but I didn't realize that you could do that. I thought that sound active mode on the Revo was automatically disabled when you plug in a DMX cable. Could you elaborate a little bit? Thanks! :-)

Typically speaking, plugging in DMX would disable stand-alone functionality, which often would include a sound active mod.

Looking though the manual, I don't see a whole lot of useful information, and the DMX traits are confusing. I don't understand the need for channels 2-8 to be so poorly documented like that.

It is unclear if Bob is using DMX or dimmer packs to control his Revo unit.

im using a dmx operator to control it, i set the dmx addy on the revo, 4-channel dmx on the revo then i left sound active on, slider 1 on the dmx board actually turns the revo on or off, it is responding to sound while on.......

the fusion fx bar4 will not work like the revo 3 , dmx control over all of its traits manually, it will not do sound active while in dmx........

Well, according to the Fusion FX Bar 4, the fixture SHOULD have sound active modes.

On channel 1, I see sound active being values of 191-200, which is a narrow range on a fader-based controller, but still, easy to nail. This is the white dimer/strobe chanel.

On channel 2, I also see sound active for that channel as well, with th same values: 191-200. This would be for the moon flower dimmer/strobe channel.

I'm not sure what's going on for you. I don't see any conditional stuff saying "this other channel controls sound active sensitivity". I also am wondering what you're "hitting" the fixture with. Sound active mainly works off of bass frequencies. Also, another way to "anger" the fixture is to stick a finder, thumb or palm over the microphone, which will often make the fixture start behaving in a random sound active manner. A last trick is to tap the fixture. I usually use my thumb or index finger and give a gentle thump or tap(depends on the fixture).

Double check your setting and see where you are.

Some fixtures with a sound active mode simply do not support that in DMX mode. This is NOT the case in this situation.

I figured it out! Channel 1 slider must be full on or close to full on for the revo to respond to sound, anything less and it shuts off the fixture, with this fader up to run the revo properly the strobe in the fx4 remains full on, when i move the slider to run the fx4 sound active, its just below the point of shutting the revo off, so i can run both with the led wash on or one at a time, not sure if i am going to keep the fx4, its coverage is horrible compared to the revo, i may just pick up a revo4 and let them both do there thing.....

Well, it sounds to me like if you read the DMX traits, you'd be well along at this point in time. I can't read them right now, Acrobat isn't installed and I can't take the time to install it to check it out.

I get the impression you have lights sharing channels. You might want to ensure each is addressed sepparately. This gives way more options.

It's really important that you refer to the DMX traits in the manuals. It can be a "life saver" and answers so many questions rapidly.

yes all my fixtures are addressed according to the manual, none are shared. Its just that fader 1 controls both lights differently when both are on, it just so happens to turn one fixture on and off and the other just turns the strobe on full...i guess the easiest way to explain this is if i want the revo and the fx bar on at the same time i have to deal with the strobe on the fx staying full on as well there really is no way around this unless i open up the fx4 and disable the strobe somehow which in comparison is very weak compared to the 2 mega flash 800,s i run as well......
