Hey everyone.

I was DJ'ing at a local strip club that used to be a disco back in the 70's and early 80's.

They had a wikked original disco floor in a spiral pattern. It was mindblowing. The controller for it was an 8 or 16 channel box labeled "Discotronics". It had several preset designs that were switched by classic "clicker" buttons. Wild.

Has anyone heard of this vintage control box or know of a common way of controlling lighted floors?

Any help on a vintage unit would be appreciated.

Depeding on the size, you could use switchpacks and a DMX operator and design your own programs. The more high end animated controllers can still be found, and sometimes are called 'Spellers'. check out action-lighting.com (take out the -). They sell the higher end controllers that are found in casino's and such that have lights that make patterns. Also, there's a roller rink near my house that has carnival type bar lights on the ceiling in biant burst patterns, and they do all these crazy designs to music.
