dip switch settings

rick the dip switch settings are given to u at the too of the dmx universe. If u look at the top of the universe channels on the upper right of the screen you will see a dipswitch layout. Tyt will tell you what positions the dip switches are in. I believe I showed this to you sometime ago.

The problem is that binary addressing is a bit abstract. Once you get the concept down, it's really super easy. So, you gotta do your math before you start flipping those switches!

Just for the record.....when you have to do the math on a ladder.....count on your fingers......
1st finger/switch - 1
2nd finger/switch - 2
3rd finger/switch - 4
4th finger/switch - 8
5th - 16
6th - 32
7th - 64
8th - 128
9th - 256
10th - 512

Just double the number on each finger and add em up. I bet it looks funny to the client when I'm in the air on a truss and counting on my fingers. Just leave up the good/used/dmx fingers and then count only your left over fingers in order and set your switches! Did it yesterday as a matter of fact.

I do it differently, but who cares as long as in the end it all works out, right?
