Hi everyone,
I recently Purchased a ******* DMX-24 Relay pack and eventually found out it was bad because i went to turn a light off with the dmx part and it was ran through a dmx controller and the whole relay shut off on me, I thought I did something but come to find Out we think it had a short in it so I sent it back(Sorry it wasn't American DJ) But I need suggestions on what to get instead that will dim lights, Is realiable(the big part) and Is at a good price. I was leaning toward the ******* Dimmer Pack for about $119 I believe it is the DMX-4 but Im not positive on that. I have a Leprecon Controller and eventually will probably buy leprecon dimmer packs instead once I move up with the lights(hoping to slowly this summer). I need to know how I should approach this and costs any help is great thanks everyone!!!!!

The DMX-24 is a relay pack (different than a dimmer pack). The Relay is just an on/off controller where the dimmer gives variable voltage used to control brightness usually. If the whole thing (all channels) turned off then is sounds like its broken Smiler Which did you need? There are also packs that do both, you can switch them from dimmer to relay.

ADJ makes some rack-mounted dimmers, as does a few of their competitors, including the one you mentioned. If you're going that route, I strongly recommend you have some socaplex cables in your inventory and use stage sockets on the fixtures if using larger rigs. I swear, things go up and down faster with less issues that way. I've been working a LOT with a lighting company and learning tons, but audio is still my primary focus.

Because DMX is a transmission protocol, it really shouldn't matter what brands you use, they should freely intermingle. Just keep your channels straight and know what channel is doing what and you should be fine.
Does anyone happen to know what the price range is for those? And are the very reliable to where they won't break right away like the ones I just bought did? If so then maybe I should look at them instead of what i was looking at, but again it depends somewhat on the prices of the equipment too.
