I own many ADJ Lights and am very happy with them (Revo 4, Fusion Bar 2, 2xJellyDomes, 4xStarball DMX's, Galaxian Sky,Galaxian Micro, and 8xPar38B Pros)

I just picked up Two Mega Bar50 RC's, great Lights!

The only thing I was put off by is that you have to buy a separate power cable/adapter in order to daisy chain them?

Is there a specific Technical Reason for this?

Yeah, but it would be nice if ADJ included a standard female NEMA 5-15 outlet, instead of the female IEC outlet. Then you could plug in any fixture. For example, I would love to run my Vizi's plugged in off of my Quad Phase and Galaxian, but I cannot, since the power cable for the Vizi is permanantly attached, so I cannot use an male to female IEC. now if the power through was a NEMA 5-15, then you could chain any fixture off of it.
Yes I totally agree.

All they would have to do is put a Maximum AMP and Voltage Rating on Socket and in the Manual, and if people ignore that it would be their fault, just like plugging in too much stuff into one outlet, we as DJ's have to watch the Amp and Voltage ratings on our devices already, so why not trust us with a regular female socket?

If you're going to chain power off your fixtures, you need to be aware of the fuse rating of the FIRST fixture in the chain. Pop that and your chain is DEAD(until you replace the fuse).

Volts/Watts=Amps

When I chain my Mega Bar50's, I only chain 4 in a chain for power. I'm only drawing 1 amp at max per power chain. The fuse is rated at 2 amps.

Chaining is becoming more popular due to convenience and cleaner set-up, as well as faster set and strike, but it has limitations(namely, the fuse or breaker). If ADJ or any other company put in the IEC cables, it would drive costs up $2-5. You can get cables readily at many electronics stores anywhere from $1 to $8 depending on length and gauge. If that doesn't do it for you, they are easily mail ordered.

Yes that would be great, but ADJ doesn't follow their own standard. ie. My quad phase has an IEC out, but my Vizi has molded male 5-15 NEMA. so in effect it makes the through on my quadphase completely useless to me. And of course the molded power cord on the vizi is 5ft. Which means it never reaches the floor, so I always have to use an extension cord to reach an Outlet on the floor.
Well, personally, I'm rather turned off with on-locking or latching power these days. I had some idiots dinking with my lights and they unplugged stuff because the IEC pass-thru came out. I guess they needed something to do after pressing the mode and address buttons. But, I digress.

I don't see the problem with standardization within a line(not standardization within a brand). But, doesn't Neutrik make some sort of locking power connector that a bunch of companies are using now? I think pro gear needs to move to more robust and "idiot hostile" connectors.

But, no, you don't want to install Edison outs on fixtures. You have to thing international. IEC is an international standard(there are others). With IEC OUT to IEC IN, once the localized primary cable is located and connected, the rest are generic off the shelf items. In fact, even the localized power cable is readily available IN the regions that use that specific type of connector.

I sold an expensive modem bank to a company in India. Forgive me if I complain how they let the gear sit in customs for 6 weeks and then didn't pay for another 120 days... but I digress. The power supplies are international, so all they had to do was provide the appropriate power cables and they were off and running.
