I always come here with problems. Sorry. At least it's not a strobe, dimmer pack or fog machine problem. I think this one has a cure already.
I bought a name brand trussing system from a company that makes music stands. I don't know how much I can say before the censor-matic kicks in and hoses stuff up.
At any rate, the trussing system included a 10-foot truss(2 5" sections) and 2 T-bars. It looks like the LTS-50T system, and perhaps it is identical, but not quite. Maybe multiple companies silkscreen their logo on it before they resell it. Using a ruler, I have determined the truss diameter and tripod stands to be 1.5" in diameter.
I recently bought a pair of crankable stands, but those were unfortunately 1 3/8", not 1/5". They aren't going to work out. Period. Couple that with a knob broken, and well, it's dangerous now as well.
Main concern is looking at the Crank 2 stand, I take it is all black. My main concerns are that it is going to be compatible with my existing stuff, but MAINLY the truss part. I don't really wannt to buy another truss unless it gets me the 2 crank stands for cheaper. I am retaining the older tripods for the T-bars since I'm changing my stage lighting configuration, but want T-Bar options for the truss stand tripod tops.
I don't think weight is a concern. What I want to put on this stand is as follows:
Trilogy
Double Twist
Mystic
Sunray III
Small Strobe.
Fog storm.
8" mirror ball with heavy duty AC motor and 2 PL-1000's
Reflex
Electra
Rover II
Barrel Flex
2 Par38's
2 dimmer packs, let's just say Aviator SP-8s just for weight consideration and taking up the clamps on the other fixtures.
I think I am OK on weight. Any comments or suggestions?
New State set-up:
Putting effects lights on the backline with the truss and crank stands.
Using the older stands with the T-bars for 4 each Par38's to light the stage up, these will be on the sides of the stage.
Not perfect, but cleaner lines.
Gotta run. Thanks. Any retailers, let me know, gotta buy fast.
