Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can help with what I'm after.

Basically I currently run 8 analog par 56s using ableton live, myDMX and a 4 channel DMX dimmer.

I control 2 lights at a time (since it's only a 4 track dimmer). I've set up scenes in MyDMX for each instance I would like.. for example, I have 1 scene which turns all of the pars on, 1 scene that turns the top 2 on, one that turns the bottom 2 on etc..

I assign a midi note to each scene.. so the note "C" would turn on scene 1, the note "D" would turn on scene 2 etc..

Now, our dimmer actually set on fire the other day so we're taking this time to update the rig and I'm thinking of changing to LED pars.. Now I'd like to have complete control of each par with a midi note for each.

I design the midi sequences using ShowXpress (a.k.a. SweetLight), as MyDMX doesn't have a 3d visualiser. Now this is perfect as it lets me play different scenes at one.. so I can have the top two pars on (scene 1) and have the bottom 2 turn on (scene2) without the top 2 being turned off.. However I'm a little worried that MyDMX doesn't give me this fucntionality..

Could anyone help me out and offer any sort of solution for how I want to do this?

Many many thanks in advance!

You need to use a virtual midi port to get the midi data to route between the two programs. On a mac use the IAC driver built in to the Audio Midi setup, for a windows computer, you can use something like the nerds.de loopbe1 to port your midi messages. from there it is just a matter of mapping your notes to scenes in mydmx
I don't use Sweetlight with MyDMX.. it won't work.. I design my show in SweetLight (cos of the visualiser).. each scene is assigned to a midi note that is played in Ableton Live.. Once I'm happy with the look, I re-create the scenes in MyDMX and assign them the same midi notes..
