It's not a difference of which is brighter, as the ELC 250watt in the Concept 1 is "brighter" than the 150 watt in the Concept 2. However gas discharge bulbs excel in color purity(temp) and lamp life.

If you are a mobile dj, the 1's are perfect, and the new lower price makes them all the more attractive. The 2's in my mind are really targeted more for installations, either unit is well built and will do what you need it to.

yes the gas discharge bulbs are better. i have a djscan 250 and 2 active scan 250, and the active scans are way brighter. gas discharge bulbs last around 2000 hour and are brighter, on the downside they cost about double the price of and regular halogen. they also can be turned on and off. once u turn the unit off u have to wait about 15-20 min until u can turn it back on again.

With any light, intelligent lighting specifically, you want to have a controller that allows you to "blackout" the fixtures, rather than turn them on and off.

thats the thing with gas discharge. when u black them out the buld isnt going off, just the shutter is blacking it out. so ur still running the bulb until the unit is turned off.

Yes, but a "hot start" and constantly power the fixture off and on, is what can drive a bulb crazy
