I just bought a color sweep, i had it for about 2 days, and put about 5 hours on it. then all of a sudden it started smokin and the stobe stopped working.. took the top off and apparently the motor that drives the strobe wheel burned out... dammit i just bought the darn thing.. i live in hawaii and don't want to send it to the factory to get it fixed, eventhough it's under warranty, i need it working soon too i got a gig comin up. plus i'm sure it will cost about as much as i paid for the damn thing just to ship it back cuz it weighs soo much... anyone know of any suitable replacement motors i could use that i can pick up quick locally, like from home depot or radioshack, lol... maybe pull apart a vcr? lol not really an option, i bought it new off of ebay.. lol i did find out something neat though, if you disconnect the belt that drives the shutter wheel and let it start free spinning on the bearing, after about a minute it will start strobing faster than it would if the motor was driving it, the cooling fan creates a spiral air current that lets this happen, pretty cool effect, although not sound activated.. lol
Give a call to support. They will help you the best they can. PS that is why I try to avoid buying gear online, it may save a few bucks, but if there is a problem, it can be more headaches than it's worth. Look on the bright side if you ship it, it only goes to California. That should only cost.....

lol from the USPS. It would probably run about $15-$20 UPS though. I hope you saved allot through Ebay.

Well anyway call tomorrow between 10-6 PST, and someone will try to help you out. If you feel confident enough to replace the motor yourself. They may be able to help you order a motor through parts.
