CDR's....arrrgh!

Hey guys. I heard in an earlier thread that burning at higher speeds using cheap CDR's can be a problem. One of my PS2's is having a 'stutter' problem on my CDR's, but not on a commercial CD I bought at Tower Records recently. [the other PS2 isn't having the problem--weird!]
Any ideas on what's the best speed and what is the best CDR manufacturer?

I use Mitsui Gold CD's. They are a little more expensive. But Mitsui Golds, are a standard for archiving. I also recommend burning as slow as possible. I usually burn 2x-4x, but I do know a few guys who burn at 8x who never had problems.

Stevie is right on, the Mitsui's are great.
I've had good luck with Sony Audio CD-Rs. Maxell's haven't been too bad either.
And I try to burn at 1x or 2x also.

I burn at like 32X and ive never had any problems. My compter is of the newer types but still. Hmm sounds kinda strange. I have had that problem with an older burner of mine that was really old and when you tried to burn at high speeds it got messed up. My guess is it might be your burner?

I had that problem when i was burning at 24X.

Thanks to this forum I learned what to do to avoid it.

It's recommended to burn at 2X and 4X. I experimented and finally have just been burning at 8X and haven't had the problem since. I use Memorex and TDK cdr's.
