beginner help...

I am completely new to the world of dmx...
I have a chauvet scorpion storm fx which is on channel 5. & in the program the "dip switches" only the 5 is in the up position..
than I have a chauvet colorstrip that is set to channel 1, & the program dips, only the 1 is up.
than I have 2 venue brand (guitar centers name for adj brand i'm told) LED par 64s..
on par #1, the program gave me a dip switch reading where the 3&4 are up so I set the unit the same.
than par #2 the program gave me a dip switch reading of the 1&5 being up, so I set that unit the same.
is this a correct set up?
I would like the colorstrip & 2 pars to all sync together. what am I missing?
any info or links for a beginner would be most appreciated

That doesn't really sound right. The Scorpion should occupy channels 5-11 and the dips for a starting address of 5 should be 1&3 on. The color strip should be channels 1-4 and yes dip number one on. The 2 par 64 LED's should be 6 channels each and number one should occupy channels 12-17 for a dip setting of dips 3&4 on. Par 64 LED 2 should occupy channels 18-23 and have dips 2&5 on.
what do you mean by sync the color strip and the pars together?

Confirmed. I have 4 of the Chauvet Intimidator Color units and those dip switches are done reversed.

Because the DIPS are not protected, I put gaff over the opening AND have marked on console tape ON the fixture the switch settings. It seems every show, at least one has some sort of silly issue with DIP switches.

Then again, my ADJ Color Fusions are the same way with address changes, but those DIP switches are at least correctly oriented.
