I'm having a really bad first experience with foggers. I purchased an American DJ "Mister Kool" and a FITCO Ground Fogger in September for a large Halloween party that I'm having on Halloween night. So far, I've had nothing but trouble out of both.

Upon purchase, I tested both and all worked well. The FITCO did not come with a timer remote and I needed one for it's use. I checked online and from all I read, timer remotes were universal so I connected the "Mister Kool" remote to the FITCO fogger to test it in timer mode. It did not work nor did the Mister Kool remote once I re-connected it to the Mister Kool.

I went to Wal Mart and purchased some generic fogger timers and connected one to the FITCO and all worked well but the generic would not work on the Mister Kool.

I began looking online at ordering a replacement remote for the Mister Kool. In the mean time, the pump quit working on the FITCO. So now, just weeks before Halloween, both of my new foggers were not working.

I noticed on the American DJ parts page that you were selling the same pump that was in the FITCO. So I ordered it and a new remote for the Mister Kool.

The pump and remote arrived. I connected the remote to the Mister Kool and tested it. All worked great.

I then installed the new pump into the FITCO but could not get it to work. I could hear pump noise but it was not drawing fluid from the tank. Upon further inspection, I found that the 90 degree connector on the pump had not been properly manufactured and had no hole for fluid to travel through. Basically, it was a solid piece of plastic. So, I took the 90 degree of the old pump and put on the new pump and all works well. FITCO running again!!

While working on the FITCO, I noticed a large pool of liquid under the Mister Kool. I knew right off the bat that it was not melted ice as I had no ice in the Mister Kool. I smelled the liquid and it was fog juice. I tested the Mister Kool but it would not produce fog. I could hear noise but no fluid was pumping from the full tank. I could not figure out where the fog juice had leaked from.

So now, less than a week from my big party, I've got a Mister Kool that I've never used other than for testing that I've already had to replace the remote on and now won't pump at all.

Is there any assistance you can offer???????????

Thanks,

Dennis

If you're within 30 days, return it to the place of purchase, and then get 2 Mister Cool units. I had a band use one at an event last week. I'm almost totally sold on it.

Best to try to stay with one brand. And if doing more than one of the same thing, same models. Why? Less support hassle.

Sorry to hear of problems. I don't trust "universal" unless you talked to ADJ and they said "yes, that will work". Best of luck don't stress out.
Well, same advice Fred, since you are SOL if you expect to do a warranty repair with ADJ, considering the date and if you want to rush it.

Return to place of purchase ASAP if within 30 days and exchange it.

I'm thinking maybe ADJ got a bad batch of parts. I'm hearing 4 failures in a week. I'm wondering what the serial numbers are of those failed units.

I still like the concept of the Mister Kool, especiall after seeing one in action.

Are you guys buying via retail or mail order/internet? I'm wondering if you're mail ordering if these places are ADJ authorized sellers?

Makes me want to crack open 2 of my never used fog machines and ensure they are working....(they are way in the back of the truck, I can't get them right now even if I wanted to)
Fred, I'd call ahead and arrange service. I don't know wha ADJ's "walk in policy" is.

Hopefully it's not "tackle first, restrain, then interrogate" but hey, you never know.

I feel it's best to set an appointment. I don't think ADJ behaves like a retail-type establishment, so I don't know what their policy is as far as being open to the general public for certain things.

Best of luck.

Denny: Hope it all works out. Sounds like just in time!

Note to all: Always test your stuff way ahead of time and as soon as you can. Find failures, problems, ensure you understand how to use and operate the product. If problems resolve them ASAP to avoid downtime.
