Hi, I'm a newbie,

I bought the VMS4 on Thursday and did my first gig using it last night. Though it is not yet customised exactly as I want it yet, I still have a few issues. I'm hoping you guys can help me out. Here's my little list;

1. The sound quality of the mic is terrible. I tried many different settings but without joy. It seems to distort very easily.

2. It says in the manual that you can assign 4 samples to the 'cue bank', how do you do this?

3. My pause button doesn't illuminate, should it?

4. Is it possible to keep the 'shift button' on without holding it (shift lock)?

5. Can you assign a Jog Wheel to scroll through the songs in your folders?

That will do for now. Looking forward to reading your replies.

Thanks
Phil

Please help.

Firstly to customise the unit to your preferences, you will need either

VDJ pro (the ugraded software +$199) or
Traktor Pro (crossgraded +$199)

From what i can see the included VDJ-LE version can't be customised and you are stuck with maps created by users/ADJ (ask them to update the templates for you).

Secondly, mapping is done inside the DJ software.
I use Traktor Pro, so i can't say about VDJ Pro, but inside Traktor theres a very comprehensive configuration menu, i guess something like that exists inside VDJ Pro.

Which version of DJ software are you using ?

I'm using VDJ PRO.
Unfortunately i'm a Traktor user and don't really know VDJ Pro (I just don't like it ...)

However many of the users here do like it a should be able to help.

Or the VDJ forums should be able to help with the basics of mapping inputs and outputs.

In traktor is as simple as selecting the function you want from the menu system, pressing "learn" then pushing/sliding/rotating the button/fader/rotary. followed by remebering to save the config file after you have finished ...

i guess VDJ has a similar thing in it's mapping section
