WASSUP EVERYBODY...I LEFT A COUPLE MESSAGES ON HERE BEFORE RECENTLY ASKING ABOUT SOME ADVICE ON EQUIPMENT, AND I GOT A COUPLE OF RESPONSES WHICH I THANK ALL OF YOU VERY MUCH. I AM CURRENTLY DEPLOYED IN IRAQ FOR A 12 MONTH TOUR. I HAVE BEEN IN IRAQ FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THE TIME SEEMS TO DRAG AT TIMES. I CAME UP WITH AN IDEA THAT I THINK WILL BRING THE MORALE UP TREMENDOUSLY FOR MY FELLOW SOLDIERS WITH ME. THE CAMP WHERE I AM STATIONED HAS WELL OVER 1800 SOLDIERS, AND MORE COME EVERYDAY. I HAVE DECIDED TO START A "LITTLE" NIGHT SPOT FOR SOILDIERS WHO CAN RELAX LISTEN TO MUSIC AND UNWIND, HOWEVER I DO NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO START THIS OPERATION. I HAVE BEEN DJING FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY EQUIPMENT WITH ME HERE. I KNOW DJING EQUIPMENT COST ALOT OF MONEY AND THAT IS WHY I AM NOT ASKING FOR ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR. THE REASON FOR THIS MESSAGE IS BECAUSE I LIKE AMERICAN AUDIO EQUIPMENT (I CURRENTLY USE THE TURNTABLES AND CD DECKS AT A CLUB I PLAY AT IN GERMANY) AND I HAVE READ THROUGH THE FORUM, AND IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE MANY VERY HELPFUL PEOPLE INSIDE (I.E. DJ SKILLZ, DJ STEVE RAY). I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF ANYBODY CAN SUPPORT OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, AND HELP BRING SOME SOILDIERS FUN OUT HERE. WHEN I SAY "SUPPORT" I MEAN IF ANYONE HAS SECOND HAND LIGHTS, SPEAKERS, MICS, CD DECKS, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I HOPE I DON'T SOUND LIKE A PAND-HANDLER TRYING TO GET SOME FREE STUFF, BUT THERE IS REALLY NOTHING TO DO OVER HERE SOMETIMES, AND WE GET PRETTY RESTLESS. I JUST WANT TO HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND BRING SOME LIGHT TO ALOT OF DARKNESS. THANKS AGAIN...

DJ Skilz,

Thank you for your support. What I really would like to do is try to find some American Audio Shirts and hats, and me and some buddies of mine will take a pitcure, and send it to the forum, and ADJ....what do you think about that? Also Skilz, I seen some of your Scratching work and its awesome..I can only dream to do it the way you do. Do you have out any instructional videos or anything of that nature where it shows you doing your thing???
What's up Hypnotic, I just got home two months ago. I'm in the Marine Corps. I had the same issue as you when I was there. The thing to be careful for aside from rockets, and ambushes. Your power supply. I know power goes out alot and they run on 220 vise 110. You have to make sure to get a really good power converter and plenty of ventilation from the heat. The dust as you know is very fine in some areas so make sure to keep your gear covered. The power issue is the biggest thing. Also a surge protector.
I was there for a second 7 month tour. As you know we break up our time and rebuild to keep this tempo up. There are alot less total Marines in comparison to Soldiers. Make sure to keep up with the mags to know whats hot. THE SOURCE, SCRATCH, kept me up to par and I knew what to look for when I got back home.
Be safe homeboy and we will see you home soon. Cool
TigrSharc,

What's up First I just want to say its good to hear a fellow soldiers word somewhere on this forum, and thanks for your kind supporting words. Yea I know about the Power Supply. My location where I am there is really not much sand around so I really don't have to worry about that. My main concern right now is that try and get something to help the soldiers out a little. Did you have ADJ equipment when you were over here?
I didn't have any gear with me. I wasn't sure I would be safe enough to use it. Good thing I didn't, we were bombed on a few times so it wouldn't have been cool. We did have some people who brought gear and there different nights for salsa, hip hop, country, as well as movies and stuff. I just pretty much tried to stay inside and safe when I could. I bought as much music as I could and read mags. Cool
Skilz,
Naw I don't think we are considered hero's we are just doing our jobs. On another note, I just wanna Pre-thank anybody who will help out this cause you all don't have to do it. Skilz, I am still in search of DVD's tutorials on CD stratching and stuff....do you have any recommendations???
Hi man !

i'm not a real reference, but, i learn a lot with this video :

Do it yourself from Dj Q-bert

where a lot of scratch tricks are well explained...

this is on "true" turntables, but now, with the new cd decks, i think it's the same...
it's only a matter of plater and crossfader "touch feeling".

hope it helps Wink

wow, i can't imagine how bad that must be. big shout-out to you guys, stay safe.

we love you over here Smiler i think i may speak for everyone here.
Hello fellow troop,
I too been there, just wanted you all to know when I deployed i took my velocity and qd-5 mixer with me. with some battery power cd walk man type speakers, I deployed by merchant marine to deliver the equipment by sea. 47 days on the sea for an Army troop was unbearable, Hats off to you Navy folks, I really have to respect you all for what you do. I could not nor would I ever do it again sail by sea, Anyway my equipment is truly combat worthy as I tried as hard as possible to be as gentle with my bags, but other who was handling them could have cared less what was in them. So for 47 days my velocity was on cranking out tunes for whom ever wanted to hear. A couple of war dents, but going on strong.
Hemihem,
Man I can just imagine how much how it felt to be on a ship for 47 days!!! What branch of Service are you in? I thought about bringing my equipment with me, but I was scared because I didn't know what to expect when I got here. Now that I am here, it really isn't that bad. That is why I'm trying to get things over here.
