VMS4.1 and Recording problem

Hello_ I just upgraded to the VMS4,1 controller and see it has great potential. However, when I try to record my mixes using the "external :
" settings two things happen 1) the audio recorders gain bars" do not move and 2) the recording is muffled and very low quality.

If I switch to Internal mode. The Audio recorder shows motion and records nicely EXCEPT it records Both Channels at the same time and not the MiX?

Also, My FX Effect do not work. They light Up but don't preform. ? Help.

If I can get these two things cleared up, I could probably start playing music again.
