Question About Sound Active Mode on ADJ Focus Spot 2x

I recently purchased the ADJ Focus Spot 2x, mainly for the ability to use the Sound active mode with no requirement for a DMX controller (though I'm not opposed to purchasing one if required). I've cycled through the settings and turned the Sound Active Mode to "On" and turned the sensitivity to 90, but the Sound mode led light is not illuminated and there is zero movement of the actual light.

I'm wondering whether anyone has experience with this unit using only the Sound Active mode or will I be required to purchase a DMX controller with a microphone unit in order to use the Spot 2x in Sound Activated mode.
