This way the fixtures aren't all running 24/7.
you would just DMX command them to power off, then turn off the console and everything's life span just went up by saving the fan from running.

As long as the lights are designed for continuous operation and safely installed, I think that leaving DMX lighting powered on is standard practice. Just take care with wiring and heat.
