We rented a large diesel generator for a show a couple months ago. It over heated and shut down right before the event. All the event lighting shut off - only lights still on were the battery LEDs.

You can plan and things still go wrong.

FYI - most commercial building use 20 amp breakers but that power strip you are using might only be rated for 15 amps. Power stripe will trip before the breaker.
