The original firmware is installed to your hard drive when you install VDJ LE.

I had the timeout error too - you need to make sure that the VMS4 is not selected as a sound card in VDJ (and probably Traktor too), even when it's not running.

Alternatively you could update using a computer that has no DJ software on it.
